Despite series loss at Stanford, Texas remained steady in D1Baseball, Baseball America Top 25 polls

Check out where the baseball team stands across the national rankings after a 2-3 week.

Following a tough weekend series loss against the No. 6 ranked Stanford Cardinal, the Texas Longhorns remained No. 12 in the D1Baseball rankings and dropped seven spots to No. 18 in the Coaches Poll. After dropping three-out-of-four games in Palo Alto, Texas fell to 12-6 on the season and 4-4 away from home.

Things won’t get any easier for the depleted Longhorns, either. The No. 11 Texas Tech Red Raiders will visit the Disch this weekend to start conference play. Texas Tech is red hot coming off an undefeated (5-0) week, in which their dangerous lineup exploded for 59 runs en route to series victories over San Diego State and Wichita State. Six position players are hitting .325 or better for the Red Raiders thus far.

Tech’s starting third baseman Josh Jung is currently listed as day-to-day with a strained quad.

Throughout this baseball season, we’ll provide a weekly update on where Texas stands in each of the college baseball ranking systems every Monday. For the sake of the ranking systems, we’ll be using D1Baseball, Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game, and the USA Today Coaches Poll for our weekly ranking sources.
