The No. 10 preseason ranking for the Texas Longhorns has helped sophomore point guard Isaiah Taylor earn quite an honor, as he's gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated this week in the Midlands region.
In a breakout freshman season, Taylor averaged 12.7 points and four assists per contest to provide some buzz for a team that added consensus No. 6 national recruit Myles Turner and now has 25/1 odds to win the national championship this year (odds courtesy of Bovada).

NEW YORK, N.Y. -University of Texas sophomore point guard Isaiah Taylor appears on a regional cover in this week's issue of Sports Illustrated, the publication announced Tuesday morning. Texas is one of five schools selected for a regional cover in the magazine's annual College Basketball preview issue, joining Arizona, Duke, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
Taylor's cover shot was taken by photographer Darren Carroll. Subscribers and newsstands in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Idaho, New Mexico and Wyoming will receive this regional issue. This week's issue will be on newsstands starting tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov. 5) through Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Texas opens the 2014-15 season with a home game against North Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 14 as part of the 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. Tip is set for 7 p.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center, and the game will be televised nationally by Longhorn Network.
