WATCH: 5-star Texas commit Andrew Jones' latest mixtape is quite impressive

Shaka Smart's prized 2016 commit will dunk and you and anyone you know

If you're in need of a quick break from all the excitement and news that's looming around Texas Longhorns football recruiting as of late, look no further than to what's coming to the hardwood in Austin next season for Shaka Smart.

The rise of Andrew Jones to elite status has been a drastic one, and after flying completely under the radar only a half year ago, Jones is now a five-star recruit that will be representing Texas in the Jordan Brand Classic and the McDonald's All-American game.

Jones ranks as the nation's No. 30 overall recruit, the No. 4 combo guard, and No. 5 player coming out of the recruiting hotbed that is Texas, behind only Kentucky commit De'Aaron Fox, Alabama commit Terrance Ferguson, five-star center Marques Bolden, and five-star power forward and potential Longhorn, Jarrett Allen.

Watching film on this kid, it's hard not to get excited about what Smart is building in Austin. Jones will join a Longhorns backcourt that should include Kerwin Roach Jr., Eric Davis Jr., Tevin Mack, Kendal Yancy, and four-star point guard commit, Jacob Young. And if Texas fans are lucky, Isaiah Taylor may follow the Buddy Hield route and return for a final season to improve his NBA Draft stock.

In either case, this is going to be one of the most skilled and explosive backcourts in all of college basketball. Point, blank, period.

And can you imagine the in-practice dunk contests that will go on between Jones and Roach? Hopefully Texas' athletic department has few extra dollars laying around for some spare rims.
