For the second time in as many seasons under Shaka Smart, the first look at the 2016-17 Texas Longhorns will come in the form of an intrasquad scrimmage at Gregory Gym, which is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
The preseason battle between teammates will be the first look at a team that’s added seven new talents to replace the seven that graduated or turned pro for Smart’s debut squad. The wave of newcomers will feature a top five recruiting class headlined by McDonald’s All-Americans Jarrett Allen and Andrew Jones.
Admission is free, but tickets must be claimed online in advance at TexasSports.com/Tickets. Current University of Texas students and current men’s basketball season ticket holders will be given priority to the limited tickets. Access to claim the free tickets opens Thursday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m.
All seating inside Gregory Gym will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
