Per the report, the Longhorns will host the front end of the series on Dec. 21, although the exact time of the matchup is yet to be announced. The series will then travel to Providence for the 2019-20 season.
Texas and Providence have met five times before, with the Longhorns holding the all-time series edge, 3-2. Texas has won each of the previous two meetings, with the most recent being a controversial 79-77 overtime victory on the road in 2004. Both teams were ranked at the time.
Texas’ entire 2018-19 non-conference slate is yet to be finalized, but the Longhorns are also set for a home-and-home series with Purdue, and will host VCU after visiting the Rams last season.
