After opening the Maui Invitational — Asheville, N.C. edition — with a last-second 78-76 win over Davidson, the No. 17 Texas Longhorns (2-0) will be back on the hardwood on Tuesday afternoon for second-round action against the Indiana Hoosiers (2-0).
Indiana enters the contest fresh off of a 79-58 drubbing over Providence, during which four of the Hoosiers’ five starters scored in double figures, led by 6’8 junior forward Race Thompson’s 22 points. Though not quite to the extent of Texas, Indiana will feature an experienced lineup — one capable of scoring in bunches and smothering defensively.
Simply put, less than 24 hours after narrowly outlasting Davidson and the Wildcats’ efficient offense, Texas will face yet another tough early-season test.
Tip-off between the Longhorns and Hoosiers is set for 12:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
