Texas vs. Iowa State: Game thread

This is a game Texas simply can’t lose if they Horns have any hope of sneaking into the big dance.

NCAA Basketball: Iowa State at Texas Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

After dropping three consecutive games and six of their last eight, the Texas Longhorns (14-10, 4-7) are on the road facing what’s essentially a must-win game against the Iowa State Cyclones (10-14, 3-8).

Much like the Longhorns, the Cyclones’ season hasn’t gone according to plan, with Iowa State having dropped four of its last five. Worse yet, the Cyclones will be without star guard Tyrese Haliburton, who is done for the season with a fractured wrist. Similarly, Texas will be without key pieces, as well, as in addition to Jase Febres and Kai Jones recently being sidelined, Jericho Sims (back) is now out indefinitely.

It likely won’t be pretty basketball, but someone has to win.

Tip-off between Texas and Iowa State is set for 1 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
