On Friday, Texas Longhorns head coach Shaka Smart told the media that a couple members of his team were out and would not make the trip to Lawrence for No. 8 Texas’ top 10 showdown with the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks, though he didn’t provide any specifics.

On Saturday morning less than two hours ahead of tip-off, the school announced that power forwards Royce Hamm Jr. and Kamaka Hepa are the two Longhorns who didn’t make the trip, leaving the Longhorns without some interior depth behind Jericho Sims and Kai Greg Brown.

In a key reserve role, Hamm is playing 11.1 minutes per contest this season and contributing 2.6 points and 3.8 boards per game. Hepa has appeared in only three games this season for a total of nine points.

Tip-off between the Longhorns and Jayhawks is set for 11 a.m. CT on ESPN 2.
