The Texas Longhorns have debuted at the No. 15 spot in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll released on Thursday morning.
Slotted right behind the Oklahoma State Cowboys and right in front of the Oklahoma Sooners, the initial poll provides some perspective on how the coaches community feels about the Longhorns heading into season. And yes, the coaches probably did actually vote for this one themselves before turning it over to their respective SIDs during the season when things start to get hectic.
The Horned Frogs are the fourth Big 12 team in the Top 25 at No. 20, while Kansas State and Baylor also received votes.
It's probably worth noting that no teams with more losses were ranked in front of Oklahoma State and Texas -- based on last season's results, the coaches are more optimistic about the chances of those teams improving than any others in the country.
