Texas WR John Harris goes over 1,000 receiving yards

Congratulations to the breakout senior

Brendan Maloney-USA TODAY Sports

For most of the Texas Longhorns seniors, the 48-10 loss to the TCU Horned Frogs on Thanksgiving represented an unqualified failure.

Not quite as much for senior wide receiver John Harris, who capped his breakout senior season by becoming the first Texas receiver to go over 1,000 receiving yards since Jordan Shipley in 2009 when he caught an 11-yard pass on 3rd and 5 in the third quarter.

Harris finished the game with five catches for 39 yards to sit at 64 catches for 1,015 yards and seven touchdowns on the season, production that dwarfed his total contributions during his first three seasons at Texas.

In all, he ended the regular season as one of the best stories on the team, although the accomplishment was bittersweet given the overall team performance on Thursday:

Still, the loss shouldn't take away from the incredible season turned in by Harris.

Not convinced? Have a look at his senior highlights. There were definitely a few of them, with the possibility of a few more in the bowl game.
