Texas LB Deoundrei Davis no longer with team

Another one bites the dust -- redshirt freshman linebacker Deoundrei Davis is no longer a part of the program, according to school officials, who did not say whether he was dismissed or merely left the team.

There is a report out that Davis was kicked off the team for stealing.

Davis used the 2013 season to rehab from a knee injury that he suffered his senior year of high school, but did not dress for the spring game and was not in uniform for the game against North Texas, either.

A consensus four-star prospect rated as the No. 10 outside linebacker nationally and the No. 125 player nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings, the 6'3, 215-pounder was a US Army All-American expected to effectively combat spread offenses from the linebacker position because of his range and athleticism.

The news follows the mid-week suspensions of senior offensive tackle Desmond Harrison and junior offensive tackle Kennedy Estelle, both of whom have been in trouble with the coaching staff in the past -- Harrison was just reinstated from his suspension for the North Texas game on Monday -- and may not ever play a down for the Horns again.

Davis joins a significant list of players who have been kicked off the team by Strong for violating his core values. During the spring, senior fullback Chet Moss and senior safety Leroy Scott were dismissed, followed in July by senior running back Joe Bergeron, sophomore running back Jalen Overstreet, redshirt freshman safety Chevoski Collins, junior wide receiver Kendall Sanders, and redshirt freshman wide receiver Montrel Meander.

Senior safety Josh Turner and junior wide receiver Daje Johnson are both also currently suspended for violating team rules, but Strong has not said when or if they will return.
