Top Texas 2017 QB target Shawn Robinson commits to TCU

The Longhorns suffered a huge miss with the nation's No. 1 dual-threat quarterback headed elsewhere.

Shawn Robinson, the nation’s No. 1 ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class and No. 2 overall prospect in Texas has committed to TCU over Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan and others, per 247Sports.

Robinson reportedly just informed Gary Patterson of his intentions.

247Sports provided some insight on Robinson’s decision to remain in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, rather than extend out to Austin, College Station or other parts of the country.

"Since my first visit to TCU I knew in the back of my head it was the place for me," Robinson said. "Just the relationship I built with the staff and the family atmosphere."

"I just felt better there than anywhere else," Robinson said. "Coach Patterson was really excited when I told him. He said he's really happy for me to get there."

The consensus five-star recruit threw for 3,922 yards and 44 touchdowns as a sophomore for Guyer (TX).

Robinson’s Crytal Ball projections were in complete favor of the Longhorns prior to today’s news.

Robinson’s commitment to TCU makes this the second miss Longhorns miss of the day, with four-star 2017 tight end Brock Wright committing to Notre Dame.
