A long, convoluted process brought Trent Domingue to the Texas Longhorns, but the team and fans sure are glad it worked out.
Domingue’s arrival was an answered prayer for the ‘Horns — the team had no kickers with college experience on the roster as late as April.
“If you find me a kicker, send him to me. I need him,” said ‘Horns head coach Charlie Strong last spring.
Domingue, cut from a scholarship at LSU despite going 13 for 17 on field goals during the 2015 season, was the answer to that need.

Domingue’s biggest moment for the ‘Horns — by far — was his game-winning kick against the Baylor Bears. Domingue admits he was “extremely nervous” ahead of the kick, but it sailed through the uprights to seal the victory.
Afterward, he was the toast of the team and did a little crowd surfing in the locker room.
“It was definitely one of the better moments of my life.”
