When the Texas Longhorns hired Tom Herman, they brought in the undisputed hottest head coach in the country to a program where he’s worked before, in a state where he has deep ties.

To celebrate the moment, TexasSports.com put together a video highlighting the very beginning of the Herman era:

The clip begins with footage of Herman landing at the airport, and a statement from UT president Greg Fenves at his opening press conference.

“We got our man,” Fenves says. “And that man is the hottest coach in college football today.”

Then they show this awesome picture of Herman standing beside Ricky Williams during his first run in Austin.

Mike Perrin, Texas men’s athletic director, also showered praise on Herman at the conference.

“He is the real deal, the right choice and a great choice for Texas. Would you please join me in welcoming coach Tom Herman.”

And from the man himself:

“I am truly honored and humbled to be the next head coach of the University of Texas,” Herman says. “And you have my word that I will work every day to lead a program that you are proud of. The University of Texas is a special place and deservedly holds a seat among the college football elite. We will win championships, we will build men of character, graduate our players, and we will do it all with integrity and with class.”

The video then flips to media members such as ESPN’s Mike & Mike and Matt Barrie speaking with Herman, followed by highlights from recent ‘Horns history.

None of it matters too much until the games actually begin, but clearly this looks like a great hire for Texas and there’s a ton of excitement around the program.

As Herman says to end the clip, “Hook ‘em Horns!”
