We know why new Texas Longhorns coach Tom Herman wanted to hire each member of his staff. But why did they want to come to Austin?

That’s a question the Longhorn Network is happy to answer:

Coach Herman told us why he wanted his new staff at Texas. But what drew them to the 40 Acres? Hear what the new coaches had to say.

"What is not to love about this place?" says passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer.

"I bleed burnt orange," says defensive line coach Oscar Giles. "I’ve always loved this school and I can’t wait to get out there and share the experiences I had here as a player, and also the experiences I had the first time I was here as a coach."

Of course, Herman himself was also a draw.

"There’s nobody better than him in the country," says defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Todd Orlando. "The first second I met him, I knew there was something special."

And for some, it's a return home. Special teams coordinator and safeties coach Craig Naivar grew up a Longhorns fan and went to games as a kid.

"I can sing ‘Texas Fight’ in my sleep," he says. "I’m really excited to get on the ground, get spring practice started and get going. Hook ‘em ‘Horns."
