Depth chart battles begin in Austin.

Some people call it March Madness, some call it spring training and Texas Longhorns gridiron fans call it spring football.

Below, Campus Insiders takes a look at the top three positions to watch as Tom Herman begins his first season leading the program.

The top three are :

1. Secondary, where three of four starters return but the unit was 105th nationally in passing yards per game.

2. Running back, where Chris Warren III will look to replace the departed D’Onta Foreman, and

3. Quarterback (growth). Shane Buechele may not lose his starting job but coaches will be looking for big improvement in year two.

The spring football game will be held April 15 and there could be a lot of changes afoot under Herman’s watch.
