It’s about that time for college football’s various preseason All-American teams to be named, and the version released by Sporting News includes two Texas Longhorns.
Junior offensive tackle Connor Williams was named to the first team, while junior linebacker Malik Jefferson was named to the second team.
Williams, from Coppell, was a consensus first team All-American in 2016, becoming only the fourth sophomore in UT history to receive such an honor. Williams also was named a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy after starting all 11 games in which he played.
Jefferson, of Mesquite, earned second team All-big 12 honors from the AP last season and was a semifinalist for the Butkus Award.
Both players also saw significant action during their freshman seasons in 2015, and both could help the ‘Horns again in 2018 should they remain in Austin.
