When the Texas Longhorns takes the field for the first time tonight against No. 4 USC, it will be true freshman Sam Ehlinger who runs out with the first-team offense, as he’ll get the start tonight over Shane Buechele, according multiple reports.
Per the reports, Ehlinger received most of the first-team snaps in pregame warmups:

As the #Longhorns proceed with warmups, unless Tom Herman is trying to be extra sneaky, it looks like Sam Ehlinger will get the start at QB.

With Buechele sidelined last weekend with a bruised shoulder, Ehlinger made his collegiate debut, completing 15 of 27 passes for 222 yards and one touchdown. More notably, he utilized his legs on a variety of occasions, keeping several drives alive and rushing for 48 yards.
