After snapping a two-game losing skid with a sensation, last-second 41-34 win over Texas Tech, the Texas Longhorns have once again taken a positive step forward in the latest AP Top 25.

After entering the weekend sitting at No. 15 in the AP Top 15, the Longhorns latest win lifts Texas two spots to No. 13. Then-No. 12 Kentucky was the only team ranked ahead of Texas in the AP Top 25 to fall on Saturday.

The Longhorns rise in the Amway Coaches Poll was a bit more significant from a movement standpoint, as Texas climbed five spots from No. 19 to No. 14.

Next up, Texas will have an opportunity to notch yet another ranked win, as No. 18 Iowa State rides a five-game winning streak into Austin for a Saturday night showdown.

Texas (7-3, 5-2) will enter its final home stand this season having already matched last season’s win total with at least three, if not four more games still to come. Per ESPN’s FPI, Texas is favored over Iowa State (66.6%) and Kansas (85%).

Suddenly, for the first time since 2009, a 10-win season is well within the realm of possibility if Texas can close the 2018 campaign on a high note.
