Courtesy of a comfortable 24-10 win over then-No. 18 Iowa State, the Texas Longhorns are on the cusp of the top 10 entering the final week of the regular season.

On Sunday afternoon, when the updated AP Top 25 was released, the Longhorns were ranked at No. 11, a two-spot improvement from their previous placement at No. 13.

The Longhorns are now No. 11 in the Amway Coaches Poll as well, up from No. 14 last week.

Along with notching yet another ranked win, Texas’ most recent rise in the polls was aided by shortcomings elsewhere, as No. 12 Syracuse was blown out by No. 3 Notre Dame, and No. 7 West Virginia was outlasted on the road by Oklahoma State, which also opened the door for Texas to win and get in to the Big 12 title game.

After earning the first of the two must-win matchups against Iowa State on Senior Night, Texas’ will cap its 2018 regular season slate on the road on Friday evening against Kansas, which has just one conference win over TCU.

Texas’ current win probability against the Jayhawks is 84.2 percent, per ESPN’s FPI.
