Just days after making their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff rankings at No. 17 overall, the Texas Longhorns fell at home to No. 13 West Virginia, 42-41, courtesy of a game-winning touchdown drive and two-point conversion commanded by Will Grier.
Consequently, with the Longhorns now riding a two-game losing skid, Texas dropped a couple of spots in the updated playoff rankings announced on Tuesday evening, falling from No. 17 to No. 19.
Texas is one of four Big 12 teams ranked in the CFP rankings, along with No. 22 Iowa State, No. 9 West Virginia, and No. 6 Oklahoma.
Thus far, Texas has toppled Oklahoma for the Sooners lone loss, but most recently fell at home to West Virginia. The Cyclones are still to come, as Texas will welcome Iowa State on Nov. 17 following a road trip to meet Texas Tech.
