The Amway Coaches Poll has the Texas Longhorns coming into the 2018 campaign ranked.
The poll was released on Thursday and Tom Herman’s program made a Top 25 appearance at No. 21 overall.
A familiar name headlines the Coaches Poll, with Alabama coming in at No. 1, followed by Clemson (No. 2), Ohio State (No. 3), Georgia (No. 4), and Oklahoma (No. 5).
The Longhorns are one of five Big 12 teams ranked entering the 2018 season. Along with Oklahoma and Texas, TCU was slotted at No. 16, followed by No. 20 West Virginia and No. 25 Oklahoma State. Kansas State and Iowa State received votes as well.
Texas opened the 2017 slate ranked at No. 23 overall, but following a season-opening 51-41 loss to Maryland, the Longhorns fell from the polls for the remainder of the season. This time around, Texas’ 2018 season will get underway against the same foe in the Terrapins, but will do so on the road at FedEx Field on Sept. 1.
