After falling out of the polls following a Week 1 loss to the Maryland Terrapins, the Texas Longhorns are ranked once again behind back-back-to-back wins over ranked foes
The Amways Coaches Poll was the first of the two polls to release on Sunday afternoon, with Texas being slotted at No. 22 overall. Shortly thereafter, the AP Top 25 dropped and the Horns are held in even higher regard to that end, as Texas is now up to No. 18 nationally.
The recognition comes after Texas’ rise in recent weeks, which features two ranked wins in as many weeks. After narrowly outlasting Tulsa, 28-21, Texas bounced back in a big way with a 23-point win over then-No. 22 USC, 37-14. More recently, Texas’ Week 4 meeting with then-No. 17 TCU provided much of the same, as the Horns controlled the second half to improve to 3-1 with a 31-16 win.
Beating TCU and USC in consecutive weeks marks the first time since 2008 that Texas has knocked off two ranked teams in two weeks, and when including a 28-21 win over Tulsa, the Longhorns are enjoying their first three-game winning streak since 2014.
