Despite the close score, Texas was on pace to make a statement victory with about three minutes left in the first quarter, when the wheels came off. Two ill advised fourth down play-calls gave Kansas the ball with a short field, and Kansas capitalized, going on to capture a 17-14 advantage with ten minutes left in the half.
