After falling on the road to the Iowa State Cyclones last weekend, the Texas Longhorns effectively eliminated themselves from the Big 12 Championship picture, but the season still remains salvageable if the Horns can amass a bit of late momentum.
But that reality is now almost entirely rooted in the outcome of Saturday’s road showdown with the No. 13 Baylor Bears, which are fresh off of a loss of their own to the now-No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners.
Beat Baylor and the road to a 9-4 finish becomes quite clear. Fall short for the third time in four games and suddenly, Texas will be scrambling to simply avoid a complete collapse and a losing season. The good news is Texas is 3-0 this season following a loss, and more notably, the Longhorns have won each of their last four meetings with the Bears. That said, three of those meetings were decided by a single score, so it’s probably safe to assume that we’re in for another close contest on Saturday afternoon.
Kickoff between the Longhorns and Bears is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on FS1.
