For the third time in as many years under head coach Tom Herman, the Texas Longhorns will enter the season ranked.
On Monday, the AP Preseason Top 25 poll was released and Texas is set to enter the 2019 campaign as one of the nation’s top 10 teams, coming in at No. 10 nationally.
After entering the 2017 and 2018 seasons ranked No. 23 nationally, Texas’ placement at No. 10 marks the Horns’ highest preseason placement under Herman. Furthermore, the 2019 preseason poll marks the first time Texas has been ranked among the preseason top 10 since entering the 2010 season ranked as high as No. 5 overall.
Based upon the preseason poll, Texas’ schedule features three ranked opponents in No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 6 LSU, and No. 21 Iowa State. Texas will host LSU on Sept. 7, meet Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl on Oct. 12, and visit Iowa State on Nov. 16.
But first, No. 10 Texas’ season will get underway at home on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Louisiana Tech. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
