Matthew McConaughey was back on the Forty Acres to speak in front of the Texas Longhorns football team during Thursday’s practice. In true McConaughey fashion, he delivered the speech while wearing a green football pinny.

His main message to the team conveyed upon the life-lesson of being able to own yourself in order to become the best version of yourself.
“Own that you’ve earned the right to be your best. Own how good it does feel to actually to be your best. It’s a good feeling. Not everyone can own that.”
“When it’s going well and you do something well, own that. Your house, your team, your brothers. Not for rent.”
“If you own yourself... You’re gonna own what you’ve built, what you’re building, and what you’re still working to become.
“If you own yourself, you’ll go 1-0. That’s all it is right now, right?”
Alright, alright, alright. Well said, McConaughey.
Also, it was announced this morning that McConaughey will be the owner of the Austin FC. The city’s new MLS franchise is set for their debut season in 2021.
