Despite enjoying an early bye week, the Texas Longhorns remain ranked as one of the nation’s top 10 teams, and in fact climbed one spot from No. 9 to No. 8.
The Horns, however, fell just slightly in the latest Amway Coaches Poll, dropping one spot from No. 8 to No. 9. The notable difference this week Coaches Poll is following the news that the Big Ten will kick their season off on Nov. 24, Big Ten teams are eligible to be ranked. Texas is still ranked one spot ahead of No. 10 Ohio State in the Coaches Poll.
Texas is one of just three ranked Big 12 teams in the Week 3 AP poll, along with No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 15 Oklahoma State, which fell four spots from No. 11 after narrowly defeating Tulsa. Baylor, West Virginia, TCU, and Texas Tech are each receiving votes, as well.
Following their bye week, the No. 8 Longhorns will be back in action with Tom Herman’s team headed to Lubbock to meet the Texas Tech Red Raiders (1-0). Kickoff between Texas and Texas Tech is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on FOX.
