After piecing together a fairly dominant performance to begin the 2021 season with a 38-18 win over then-No. 23 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, the Texas Longhorns have climbed six spots from No. 21 to No. 15 in the updated AP Top 25 Poll released on Tuesday.
Texas improved a few spots in the Amway Coaches Poll, as well, rising from No. 19 to No. 15.
The Horns’ improvement in the polls was aided not only by a strong showing to begin the Steve Sarkisian, but from several ranked teams falling to begin the season, including No. 12 Wisconsin, No. 14 Miami and No. 17 Indiana.
Texas remains just one of three Big 12 teams ranked in the AP Poll, along with No. 4 Oklahoma (1-0) and No. 9 Iowa State (1-0).
Next up, the No. 15 Longhorns will travel to Fayetteville for the first time since 2004 to meet the Arkansas Razorbacks (1-0).
Kickoff between Texas and Arkansas is set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
