Saturday afternoon, when the Texas Longhorns host the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks, Shaka Smart’s team will be debuting Nike’s KD9 ‘Texas’ — a Texas-centric edition of Kevin Durant’s shoe line from arguably the most popular apparel brand in sports.
Now on the ninth version of his popular basketball shoe, each yearly style comes equipped with a dedication for the former college and current NBA superstar’s alma mater, and for the first time on Saturday, Durant’s official shoe will serve as the official shoe for The University of Texas basketball program.
“Attending UT was one of the best experiences of my life and launching the KD9 back in Austin this past June reflects my love for the college experience I had 10 years ago,” says Durant.
While the men’s team will be seen in February 25’s meeting with Kansas, the top 10-ranked women’s basketball team with debut the KD9 ‘Texas’ next Saturday for the Big 12 Tournament.
Durant’s latest Texas-themed kicks will be available to the public Friday, March 10, and will retail at $150.
As Boobie Miles once said in Friday Night Lights, “When Boobie knock some fools out, Boobie gonna knock ‘em out with KD9’s on his feet.”
