In three of the last four NBA Drafts, the Texas Longhorns have had a player selected in the first round. Center Jaxson Hayes was one of the biggest surprises for the Texas Longhorns this season and looks to join recent names like Mohamed Bamba and Myles Turner as first-round selections.

Hayes sits just outside the top-10 players according to ESPN, putting him among some elite company in Texas basketball history. Hayes still has some room to grow offensively, but became a key cog in the Longhorns’ defensive scheme in the 2018-19 season, averaging more than two blocks per game thanks to his impressive 7’3.5 wingspan.

If selected in the first round, Hayes will become the fourth Texas big man in five years to be selected in the first round, as Bamba, Jarrett Allen, and Myles Turner were all chosen in the opening round of the draft.
