Former Longhorn DE Cedric Reed signs with Miami Dolphins

The former All-Big 12 performer now has another chance to make an NFL roster

Brendan Maloney-USA TODAY Sports

For Texas Longhorns defensive end standout Cedric Reed has signed a training camp deal with the Miami Dolphins, per Twitter.

Reed initially landed with the Buffalo Bills last May as an undrafted free agency, but failed to make the final 53-man roster and instead, saw time on and off the Bills' practice team before being waived a few weeks ago. Reed will now have three preseason opportunities against Dallas, Atlanta and Tennessee to prove he's worth keeping around on a Dolphins team that already has a fair amount of defensive end depth. The 53-man rosters must be finalized September 4 by 4:00 p.m. ET

At Texas, Reed played in 46 games with 32 starts, recording 180 tackles and 18.5, along with six forced fumbles.
