Equal contribution from all the Texas Longhorn golfers led to a third-place finish in the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational (Forest Hills Golf Club) over the weekend.

Wake Forest and South Carolina nudged the Longhorns at the top of the leaderboard after a strong finish on Sunday from both teams. In large part to senior Cameron Young’s 19-under (-19), who won individually by seven strokes, the No. 3 Demon Deacons took home the tournament trophy.

Senior Steven Chervony led the way for Texas, as he finished fourth individually after shooting eight-under par for the tournament.

Individual Results

(Sr.) Steven Chervony — 4th (-8)

(Fr.) Cole Hammer — T5th (-7)

(Fr.) Pierceson Coody — T5th (-7)

(Jr.) Spencer Soosman — T10th (-5)

(Fr.) Parker Coody — T24th (-2)

Although they’re currently on track to host a NCAA Regional, the men’s golf team is still seeking their first tournament victory of the season and their last chance to do so in the regular season will come this weekend at the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational. The event will take place on Friday and Saturday at the Papago Golf Course.

Don’t forget about the women’s golf team either — the lady Longhorns are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation and hold three tournament victories on the season. They will compete at the Big 12 Championship in Tulsa starting on Monday (Apr. 14 — Apr. 16).
