ESPN College GameDay analyst Lee Corso is rather high on the Texas Longhorns entering the 2018 season. During a preseason preview segment, Corso picked the Longhorns to win the Big 12 this season, predicting that Texas will defeat the Oklahoma Sooner in the Big 12 Championship game.

If Corso’s preseason prediction proves true, this would mark Texas’ first Big 12 title since 2009 and the fourth in the program’s history. The Horns trail only Oklahoma for most Big 12 titles, as the Sooners have captured 11 and each of the previous three.
After a solid 7-6 season, with multiple close losses against in-conference foes such Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, Texas carries some momentum into a year where the Big 12 seems to be wide open. With Oklahoma State and Oklahoma replacing their starting quarterbacks, among numerous other key contributors, and TCU tasked with replacing more than a dozen starters, the Big 12 doesn’t boast the clear powers that it did in 2017.
This is the second straight season in which the Big 12 Championship is back in play. A possible Texas-Oklahoma championship game matchup would make history, marking the rivalry’s first head-to-head matchup in the Big 12 Championship.
