Texas Longhorns offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Joe Wickline is still in hot pursuit of another junior college offensive tackle and will get a visit this week from East Mississippi Community College's Brandon Hodges, according to Orangebloods.
The planned visit to Austin will be at least the second official visit for the 6'5, 295-pounder, as he tripped to South Florida in early November.
After receiving an offer from Texas in September when he was a relative unknown, Hodges is only ranked as a two-star prospect, but he was offered by Mississippi State on Monday to join a rapidly growing list of schools.
Back in September, his only offers were from Georgia State, Texas State, and Western Kentucky, but since then Lousiville, South Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and Southern Miss have all entered his recruitment.
So he's prospect who is certainly rising among college coaching staffs who have had a chance to see him play and no doubt that offer from Wickline helped spur some interest given Wickline's reputation around the country.
Texas is perceived to be in strong position for Hodges at this time with three predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball, but he went to high school in Mississippi, so it remains to be seen how much the recent success in Starkville could combine with any previous affinity for the Bulldogs to provide some serious competition for the Longhorns.
In any case, the facilities and an increasingly better on-field product will be on display for Hodges on Thursday as Wickline tries to land an instant-impact tackle in a class that just added project junior college tackle Tristan Nickelson.
