While Shaka Smart's Texas Longhorns look to continue their recent surge and add a fifth win in six efforts Saturday over the Vanderbilt Commodores, the off-court recruiting efforts are of the utmost importance, as well. Four-star 2017 targetCharles O'Bannon Jr., will reportedly be in town for an unofficial visit.
Per @LVProspects, big-time 2017 guard @mrobannon5 will take an unofficial visit to Texas weekend of Jan. 29. #HookEm has watched him often.

One of Texas' most highly-touted 2017 targets, O'Bannon Jr. ranks as the No. 32 overall recruit nationally, the No. 6 shooting guard, and No. 2 recruit out of Nevada, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
The 6-5, 190-pound Bishop Gorman (Nev.) product is an explosive leaper with a silky-smooth shooting stroke, and by the time his senior year rolls around, O'Bannon Jr. will be one of the most coveted scoring guards in the nation. While Texas could easily have plenty of backcourt depth for the 2017 season, depending on who returns, O'Bannon Jr. would be an addition that would certainly find his way into Smart's rotation.
UCLA currently leads in O'Bannon Jr's Crystal Ball projections at 40 percent, but Texas is seen as one of the hotter teams in his recruitment right now, right alongside Kansas.
Texas currently lacks a 2017 commit, which is far from any reason for concern yet. Let's see if Smart can get the ball rolling following O'Bannon Jr's visit to the 40 Acres.
