Texas Longhorns head coach Shaka Smart is on the road Tuesday afternoon to visit priority point guard target Matt Coleman, per Scout’s Evan Daniels.

The four-star lefty floor general has been on Shaka Smart’s radar dating back to his days at VCU has he’s been a name often mentioned during Smart’s tenure at Texas. The Oak Hill Academy product played under Smart last summer as the starting point guard for the Team USA U18 squad, and at the time, all signs indicated Coleman to Texas was a near lock. Duke having since offered the 6’0, 170-pounder could prove problematic, though, as the Blue Devils now hold five of Coleman’s last seven Crystal Ball projections.

Smart also visited Coleman Sept. 23. The elite guard has already taken official visits to Duke and Stanford with officials to Kansas, Syracuse and Texas coming throughout October. With his visit to the 40 Acres scheduled to be his final official on Oct. 28, the ‘Horns could have the final convincing word, which may be enough to earn a commitment. Until that point, Smart is tasked with outlast pursuit from Bill Self and Mike Krzyzewski.

Coleman ranks as the No. 32 player in the country and the No. 8 point guard.
