4-star Texas CG target Shai Alexander to make decision Monday

The former Florida pledge will announce his second college commitment on Monday

Four-star Chattanooga (Tenn.) Hamilton Heights combo guard Shai Alexander is set to make his college commitment on Monday, per ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.

Borzello also reported that along with Kentucky, UNLV, Texas and Syracuse, Florida is still in the mix to secure Alexander’s commitment for a second time.

The former Florida pledge re-opened his recruitment in mid-October and immediately released a top eight of Kentucky, Kansas, Texas, Syracuse, UNLV, N.C. State, Oklahoma and Florida. Shaka Smart and his staff were among those to aggressively pursue Alexander and are now set to host the nation’s No. 2 combo guard for an official visit on November 11, just days before his pending commitment. He’s scheduled to visit the 40 Acres at the same time as four-star shooting guard Charles O’Bannon Jr.

The Texas staff visited Alexander on October 27, while Smart personally visited him on November 3, so it’s clear the ‘Horns view the Tennessee native as a talent they’d certainly like to add to their 2017 class. For Texas, though, potential depth between a commitment from Jase Febres, potential commitments in the near future and a handful of likely returners could make for a considerably crowded rotation.

We’ll know soon enough, though, what impact that has on Alexander’s commitment.

Kentucky holds all 15 of his Crystal Ball projections.

Alexander ranks as the nation’s No. 43 player at the top player in Tennessee.
