After taking a trio of official visits to Texas, Auburn, and Maryland over the past week and a half, junior college tight end Salvatore Cannella listed the Longhorns, Tigers, and Terrapins in his top three with a decision just days away.
The Scottsdale C.C. prospect is set to announce which Power Five program he’ll be attending next semester on Wednesday, which marks the first day of the JUCO signing period for mid-year enrollees.
Cannella visited Maryland on December 2 and followed that up with a three-day visit to Auburn. He then visited Texas on Saturday after picking up an offer early last week. As Wescott Eberts noted, Cannella is an especially important prospect for the ‘Horns:
Of all the official visitors on Saturday, Cannella may be the most important — he’s had an extra year to mature physically out of high school, he will be on campus in the spring, and he plays at an extreme position of need.
Auburn currently holds all five of Cannella’s Crystal Ball projections, but the Tigers’ sophomore tight end Jalen Harris caught just one pass last season, which could impact his decision.
Cannella ranks as the No. 21 JUCO prospect and the No. 2 JUCO tight end, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
