A former Kansas pledge, McKinney backed out of his commitment to the Jayhawks within 10 days of his verbal. Less than a month later, the Longhorns are now interested in the Weatherford product’s services.
McKinney is scheduled to officially visit the 40 Acres on January 20 and the ‘Horns are a very likely landing spot for the in-state talent at this point.
Along with Texas and Kansas, McKinney holds offers from Oklahoma State, Houston, Texas State, SMU and UTSA.
A 6’4, 300-pound prospect, McKinney ranks as the nation’s No. 50 defensive tackle and the No. 101 prospect in Texas.
