5-star DT Marvin Wilson includes Texas Longhorns in top 10

Texas is still in the running for the elite in-state defensive tackle

Five-star Episcopal defensive tackle Marvin Wilson released his top 10 schools Friday evening and as expected, the Texas Longhorns made the cut.

Wilson, the nation's No. 1 defensive tackle and No. 3 player overall, per 247Sports Composite, is the special kind of talent that can anchor a championship defense and Texas will have to outlast the likes of Alabama, Florida State and LSU - the current projected frontrunners - in hopes of Wilson playing college football in Austin.

While Texas certainly seems like a team that may be on the outside looking in, considering Wilson wants to play for a winning team, some changes of fortune for the Longhorns could prove invaluable. Here's a bit of what Wilson had to say about Texas in a recent interview with Rivals:

"I just want to see them have a productive year. They're a great, great program and stuff like that. Great coaches and everything like that. Coming from the home state, you just want to see that program do great. I see myself playing there just because I'm from there."

It's possible we won't see a commitment from Wilson anytime soon and if Texas can manage an eight or nine win season, the chances of landing Wilson likely increase significantly. But for now, it's good enough to simply be one of the final 10 teams standing in one of the nation's more sought after talent's recruitment.
