By this time next week, Shaka Smart’s 2019 class may have its first addition
On Friday, elite 2019 Denton Guyer point guard De’Vion Harmon announced that he’ll bring his recruitment to a close and making his college commitment next week, choosing between Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Marquette.

A four-star floor general, Harmon is Smart’s priority at the position 2019 and to date, he’s one of just two point guard prospects holding a Texas offer, along with five-star South Garland product Tyrese Maxey. The latter is likely Lexington bound, as John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats have intensified their pursuit as of late and when that happens, the Big Blue Nation usually gets who it wants.
Meanwhile, with the Texas staff still focused on building upon a three-man 2018 class that’s currently ranked No. 16 nationally, Oklahoma has surged with the former Team USA U-16 standout, with Harmon visiting Norman twice since Aug. 2.
The Dallas-area guard has visited Austin on numerous occasions, as well, calling his most recent visit “AMAZING,” but that was back in February.
Throughout the eight months since, Harmon has taken three trips to Oklahoma and visited Baylor in September, as well, but all the momentum points towards the elusive lefty crossing the Red River and siding with the Sooners.
To date, Oklahoma owns all five of Harmon’s Crystal Ball projections.
Now with a decision date, and thus a decision in mind, it may be too little too late for Texas. If that proves to be the case next Friday, Smart and his staff will once again be tasked with gauging the market for new options at point guard.
