The 6’6, 215-pound wing is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 14 overall player, No. 2 shooting guard and the No. 1 player from Virginia, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Texas seemed to be the early favorite for Johnson back in the summer, but things have since changed. John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats emerged as the favorites for Johnson following an offer and an official visit to Lexington in mid-September.
According the 247Sports Crystal Ball, Kentucky holds a significant edge over everyone else at 62 percent. All of the most recent predictions favor the Wildcats. Texas follows at 23 percent, with Maryland in third at 15 percent. Johnson’s most recent visit was with the Terrapins on Sept. 29.
Jerry Meyer, Director of Basketball Scouting for 247Sports, holds a 100 percent average as a Texas predictor. His current Crystal Ball prediction for Johnson is Kentucky.
