With Tom Herman’s 2017 class now signed sealed and delivered, the first-year Texas Longhorns head coach will conduct a press conference to discuss the ‘Horns recruiting haul and all things related.
Longhorn Network will provide coverage of the press conference, as well as TexasSports.com.
Quite unlike the previous two National Signing Days in Austin, in which Charlie Strong’s staff celebrated back-to-back top 10 classes and numerous singing day commitments, Wednesday’s events were, for the most part, devoid of such drama. Texas remained in the mix for a handful of targets, but by early Wednesday morning, the ‘Horns weren’t the frontrunners and watched as Stephan Zabie, Chevin Calloway and K’Lavon Chaisson all headed out of state.
Texas did earn an early morning flip in the form of three-star JUCO defensive tackle Jamari Chisholm, whom traded in his unsigned UCF letter of intent for one bound for Austin. Former Notre Dame wide receiver commit Jordan Pouncey also pledged to the Longhorns over Miami, Tennessee and the Irish.
Texas’ 2017 class now ranks 27th nationally and No. 2 in the Big 12, per 247Sports Composite, though the rankings haven’t yet accounted for the addition of Pouncey.
