The ‘Horns are now right in the thick of things with the Louisiana native.

Among the masses on campus this weekend for Texas junior days was 2019 Southern University Lab School (La.) offensive tackle Kardell Thomas.

A Baton Rouge native and LSU commit, Tom Herman and the Texas staff were able to get Thomas to the Forty Acres on Saturday and the visit put the ‘Horns in a good position going forward.

“It was amazing,” Thomas told Burnt Orange Nation of his Texas visit. “I loved everything about it and I cant wait to come back in the summer.”

“The atmosphere was great, everything was great,” Thomas said. “Coaches really focused on us getting to know the new Texas.”

Following his fruitful trip to Austin, in which he added a Longhorns offer, the ‘new Texas’ is now firmly in the mix for the high-level lineman. Just a sophomore, the ‘Horns will have plenty of time to work towards flipping the 6’4, 320-pound prospect from the home-state power, and will likely need to produce on the field to do so.

“I liked the new staff they really believe in coach Herman’s plan,” Thomas said.

As was the case with many of the prospects in attendance, Texas strongly stated its case as a legitimate landing spot and are in prime position with one of the top offensive tackles in his class.

Along with Texas and LSU, Thomas holds offers from Alabama, Oklahoma and Iowa State; a short list that will grow substantially throughout the next two seasons.
