Texas offers 4-star Florida OLB Amari Gainer

The Florida State legacy will be difficult to pry away from the Sunshine State.

After landing four-star Florida athlete Justin Watkins over the weekend, Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns are trying their hand in the Sunshine State once more with an offer to four-star Tallahassee Lawton Chiles outside linebacker Amari Gainer.

A Florida State legacy born and bred in the Seminoles’ backyard, the Longhorns, similar to any other program, will have a hard time luring Gainer away from the school both of his parents attended and where did father played wide received in the 1980s.

That hasn’t deterred interest, though.

Prior to Texas’ February 28 offer, the Alabama Crimson Tide were the latest to offer the elite linebacker. Gainer then told 247Sports ($) that he hopes to visit Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State and Virginia soon, so while it will be a tall task for any program not named Florida State to land the local product, Texas will likely at least get a real opportunity to sell itself.

Gainer also holds offers from Miami, USF, Ole Miss, UCLA, Louisville and Kentucky, among others.

To date, all nine of Gainer’s Crystal Ball projections favor Florida State.

At 6’2.5, 204 pounds, Gainer ranks as the nation’s No. 298 player, No. 22 outside linebacker and the No. 48 player in Florida, per 247Sports Composite.
