Five-star Houston Lamar cornerback Anthony Cook was originally expected to attend Texas’ spring game, but Cook visited the Forty Acres this past weekend instead. Three-star Southlake Carroll inside linebacker Jacob Doddridge was also invited to Texas’ spring game, but he won’t be able to attend due to family reasons.

The last time Texas hosted a major recruiting event — February’s junior day — the ‘Horns were without a single 2018 commit, though the day ended with Herman flipping four-star athlete Justin Watkins from Florida State. This weekend should be much different. Three-star Fort Worth Eastern Hills outside linebacker Byron Hobbs announced his commitment to Texas last Friday and four-star Southmoore (Okla.) quarterback Casey Thompson is scheduled to make his announcement on Thursday afternoon. All signs point towards Texas being the school in line to earn his pledge, as his offer is now committable, which would allow Thompson, Hobbs and Gary Johnson to serve as recruiters this weekend.
