Three-star offensive tackle Cameron Wire made the journey from Ascension, Louisiana to Austin, Texas for Saturday’s Orange-White spring game and he’s going back home with an offer from Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns.

The Longhorns now officially join a recruitment that already features programs such as Auburn, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Tennessee, Oregon and Mississippi State, among others. To date, Wire holds 31 total offers.

Being fairly late to the party, the Longhorns will need to play some catch-up in Wire’s recruitment, but there’s good reason to believe Texas can at least become a major factor if the staff can get the Louisiana native back on campus at some point in the near future.

At 6’6, 271 pounds, Wire is ranked as the nation’s No. 930 player, the No. 71 offensive tackle and the No. 56 prospect in Louisiana, according to to 247Sports Composite.
