In continuing a trend of pursuing out-of-state talent, Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns have now extended an offer to IMG Academy cornerback Houston Griffith.

The Longhorns now join a lengthy list of potential suitors, as Griffith holds 35 offers, which includes Ohio State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Florida State, Penn State, Michigan, Oklahoma, USC, UCLA and Tennessee, among others.
Although the state of Texas is tremendously rich with defensive back talent for the 2018 cycle, Griffith’s offer is just further proof that the current staff in Austin isn’t bashful when it comes to gauging the market on talent from anywhere in the nation. To date, three of the Longhorns’ five commits are from outside of Texas, with one being a Florida native in four-star athlete Justin Watkins.
A four-star prospect, Griffith ranks as the nation’s No. 53 player, No. 8 cornerback and the No. 11 player in Florida, per 247Sports Composite.
