For the second time in as many days, Shaka Smart and the Texas Longhorns have extended on offer to a rising prospect, this time in the form of 2020 Little Elm point guard R.J. Hampton.

Following his Monday evening offer, Hampton now becomes the first 2020 prospect to pick up an offer from Smart and Texas jumping into the mix early is no surprise. At 16 years old, Hampton has already seen a stint with Team USA with the Men’s Junior National Team.
While Hampton is the first 2020 target to pick up a Texas offer, the Longhorns aren't the first to offer Hampton. To date, Kansas, Oklahoma State and SMU have all extended invitations with the Jayhawks offer coming just days ago. Hampton also visited TCU in February.
Expect Hampton to become a priority for Smart and his staff, despite still being three years away from high school graduation.
